Try Going Facebook-Free in 2016. It’s Amazing

  • I teach high school, and in one of my classes a student ran an investigation where she asked for volunteers to abstain from using facebook for one week. It was a really interesting experience. Most of the adults I mentioned this to assumed that no high school student would even consider quitting social media.

She got about ten volunteers, and it was a positive experience for everyone involved. Not everyone quit fb altogether, but everyone became more intentional about their use and more self-aware of their use. People said things like, "I realized I was using my phone to hide from my peers in class. Now I'm talking to more people in real life, and I'm happier as well."

Every generation needs to learn how to manage its distractions. It's wonderful to see people thinking critically about their own use habits.
