From the police scanner audio [0]:

"Information for our units [inaudible] at Apple Campus, Infinite Loop, for a 10-56 attempt... female employee bleeding from a head wound to the head, possibly has a gun. Looks like security was escorting the employee down, and the West Side units is now arriving. And I do have further [inaudible] that they are advising there’s a body in one of the conference rooms with a gun so we’re not sure if there are multiple people involved."

10-56 is the police scanner code for a suicide. The audio refers to a "female employee" when the police confirmed the victim was a male, so I'm not sure of its veracity.

I think one of the problems I've seen with hiring technical workers is that - anecdotally - they have higher rates of depression and/or suicidal tendencies. I think it's the reason why successful modern tech companies try to push the image that above all else, it is important your coworkers become your friends. Investing into mental health is obviously important, but making coworkers watch dogs for concern of their friends is probably equally important
