More seriously, this kind of lazy dismissal of a place based on a notion of "oh ho ho, it has gasp Republicans, in rural areas!" is kinda exactly the problem we face--and you can bet your ass that red-tribe has no problem colonizing the pearl-clutching blue-tribe regions.

Can people that think like this articulate what it is that distresses them? Can they articulate why it is a valid concern? No, no they cannot.
