Ask HN: Which Richard Stevens book to follow?
Unix Network Programming - W Richard Stevens comes in 2 avatars - the first edition, and a newer version split into 3 volumes. It might seem stupid to ask this since the newer volumes would obviously have updated and more comprehensive material - but I had to, after reading some reviews on Amazon.
This is the first edition - http://www.amazon.com/UNIX-Network-Programming-Richard-Stevens/dp/0139498761/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
To give some background, I'm getting back to network programming in C after a long (long) time. A lot of people recommend Ricard Stevens' books so my question is based on that. Any other book suggestions would also be welcome.
Can anybody guide me in this?
