    One long-time HN user emailed me recently: I would encourage you to work something out with Dan eventually. You both seem reasonable enough that you can probably work something out if you want to.

    I’d like to attempt to.

    It would be more productive for both of us if we bury the hatchet than continue this. Perhaps we can agree that it’s better to spend our time growing our respective communities than to continue engaging here.

    I hope it’s clear by now that it’s harder to reshape behavior with intimidation than communication. And communication – not even justification, just communication – is all that I’ve been asking for.

    That said, I’m trying to see things from your perspective as well. You seem to believe that I’m here to cause you problems. I’m not. The goal has been to highlight what can happen when you exercise power without caution. I have been trying to believe that you are simply overworked rather than malicious.

    Ultimately, it’s your decision how to proceed. If you insist on continuing this and giving no recourse, that’s fine. I just hope you find this situation as intriguing as I do.
