Ask HN: How to go from a idea to a Computer Graphics paper proposal?
I'm a bachelor student in the Netherlands and for my master in Game technology my university requires me to write down a proposal that I than can study for the masters for a full year if they except it.
The advice they gave me was to start implementing papers and talk with game companies to get a good feel in what kind of specific things I could contribute.
In my spare time I have made different tech demo's in Cpp and OpenGL, and specifically the challenge of drawing old anime kind of water color styles interest me a lot. So think about rendering the first season of Pokemon in OpenGL for example. I have tried to read some papers regarding these specific things but they are either very old and simple or extremely specific and way to much in depth for me to understand anything at all. So my questions would be how can I find what kind of papers are already in this field and what papers would be a good start to implement in my spare time? And how does one go from all this information to one formulated question for on the proposal?
