How to make Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, EULA for B2B SaaS?

I am building a B2B SaaS product. It's basically a CRM -- businesses will subscribe to our service and they will enter and manage their customers' info and do typical "CRM stuff".

We don't plan selling data to the Russians or other naughty things like that.

I need appropriate Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and EULA documents. What are my options? The three I see are:

1) Get a lawyer and pay $20000.

2) Take a similar company's Terms and modify it. What we plan to do is conceptually very similar to other CRM companies.

3) Use some sort of template or generator.

  • Before you shell out thousands - I’ll recommend option #2. There are “open source” legalese docs [0] you can start with - then hire a lawyer when your business gets some traction.

[0] For example Automattic (Wordpress parent company) has them under Creative Commons: https://github.com/Automattic/legalmattic

  • Is option 1.5) available? Hire a "legal service" that has templates, pay 1-2k and get it mildly customised to your needs
