Russian Cyberpunk Farm

  • Apparently made on shoestring budget. People worked for free, the only cost was compute and filming equipment (which was rented). I'm surprised by the quality of the result - this is Elysium/Chappie grade work.

The link should really be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HZ4DnVfWYQ. This is the original video uploaded by the authors.

Aside from all the robots, drones, and black holes, this is what rural Russia looked like 20-25 years ago, and probably still looks like in some places today.

  • A while ago somebody suggested all video submissions should be accompanied by a brief summary. I think it's a good idea in principle, just not really sure how to describe what I just saw. I'll try:

In a very traditional Russian countryside setting, there is a farm equipped with all kinds of futuristic gadgets cyberpunk-style [1]. As we take a tour of it, in the end we find out the setting is something else altogether. (And it's much more interesting than it would seem from this description.)

Not sure who made it and for what purpose exactly, I guess it has something to do with the much-anticipated release of the Cyberpunk 2077 computer game.

  • The songs are especially great, and the last words of the video are very sad: "we know that robots are almighty, it's a pity that robots are not us"
