Private Word Article in Harpers - Is he off his rocker, or ... ?

I just read this article in Harpers. Its about privacy. Its intresting because I don't see many articles about privacy that aren't also about technology. This deals a bit with technology. Anyway my question is, Do you think he's right? I don't think so. I wanted some comments though.
