Ask HN: Toxic work env, what should I do?
I work at large company "B" in Finance. It was obv to me I was being managed out for some time now, and now HR is finally involved. I was excited to join a big company and had interest in finance as SWE. But those dream didn't manifest. I've started interviewing. But HR has been making my life hell. Everyday they call me, WFH, and give me list of "violations". Late to meeting by n minutes, slack wasn't green at 11pm, didn't complete x points last sprint... etc.
My question should I wait to find new job or get fired, or just quit now.
I'm never working for loser corporations, where all toxic boomers gather up in HR. Like you must get off making people miserable, some people seek purpose and impact in their work, and some might be like oh boy can't wait to see that employee crack under pressure, I think today is the day, lets see what bs I can pull this morning. I mean how sad you have to be that's the bar of self fulfilment.

HR never works for you. Only for the company.
Find new job.
Many companies give you the option to go through the pip process or just take up a package so you can just get some time to find a job and leave. This oftentimes works better for both the employer and the employee. Does your company offer this and is it available to you at this stage? Leaving is the better option most of the time due to optics and first impressions - unless you’ve had some other major but temporary setback in life you can recover from.
Don’t wait to get fired, start applying for new jobs now. I took my first contracting gig after getting pushed out by a bad boss, turned out to be a great experience.
