The Critical Drinker is an acquired taste but watching his videos eviscerating The Last Jedi led me into a discovery of YouTube content creators who are quite skilled writers and explain a lot about storytelling and cinematography. To his point in this video, whether the writers are emotionally still children I can't say but it's clear the audience isn't expected to bring critical thinking in order to understand the plot. Not every movie needs to be serious and have three levels of interpretation but it's rare to find any like that anymore when it wasn't so rare before.
