Like Covid-19, digital passports could be with us forever
Colorado has an official app, myColorado. It shows a legally recognized (in-state, other states don't have to recognize it) driver's license and COVID19 immunization record.
A recent update broke the Android version. You can't access the immunization record. If you clear all user data, the MFA step in which they email a code succeeds verification but the apps stalls at this point. You can't proceed.
What is "just a bad update" has the side effect of locking out Android users enmasse from this regime.
I'm not sure which is worse: having created a two class system (smart-phone owner vs none) or a subclassist situation within the smart-phone class.
Where iPhone using friends say "you should just get an iPhone" rather than describe a technical problem with a technical fix, and whether and how to legislate it.
