Sweden Put Covid Passport Microchip into Hands

  • I think that’s Swedes, not Sweden.

Reading https://eufactcheck.eu/factcheck/true-microchips-are-getting..., implanting a chip in one’s hand is somewhat (relative to other countries) popular in Sweden.

  • This is very blatant disinformation. Sweden's government isn't forcing anyone to have chips inserted.

  • For another English language source on this claim, there's a Vice article from a couple of weeks ago: "Thousands are injecting themselves with microchips that do everything from unlock doors and make payments to store COVID vaccine certificates."

  • I do wonder whether those who support mandatory medical procedures would draw the line at such a bodily intervention. Presumably since the "benefit" of an implant is only administrative, and doesn't directly affect how likely you are to spread disease, they wouldn't think it was justified. However, if large numbers of people started using faked health passports, and microchips made that harder for people to get away with, perhaps there would be societal demand for it.
