So in my books that's not limiting free speech, that's just limiting non sense to achieve a higher s:n. It doesn't penalise any opinion explicitly. Its about being curious.

  • No. There's no 'free speech' obligation for a platform to promote your speech. Or to promote itself beyond what it sees as its own audience and mission. As you note, the value of niche forums is the high signal/noise ratio--topical discussions stay (more or less) on topic.

  • The Elon worship is probably misplaced, but hey, HN doesn't stop free speech.

  • Not spreading information does not imply limiting it.
