Revamp of MDN Web Docs Contribution Docs

  • MDN still struggles with being a cohesive resource rather something that you land on ten times a day for quick syntax reference.

They're trying to do too much at the same time and putting trust into too many contributors who to this day will do things like talk about frameworks like Express in the context of it being some de facto starting point for learning Node.js when it's not. Nobody uses Express. Web dev has advanced leaps and bounds since 2015 and not talking about modern frameworks smells like a conflict of interest to me.

    Let's see:

    #1: intext:"Express" site:developer.mozilla.org intext:node

    About 2,320 results (0.37 seconds)

    #2: intext:next.js site:developer.mozilla.org

    About 3 results (0.26 seconds)

    Nice!

I know they cover Svelte and a lot of Vue and Angular also, but Svelte is not that popular and Vue's community resides in the East.

It paints a frustrating picture for people who actually want to get useful information about the current state of development and not what it was like 10 years ago.
