Tell HN: The vast majority of the Internet is a time machine
Every once in a while I stumble upon a problem and Google for answers where I see people writing in blogs, forums or even github repositories.
Sometimes I've been able to contact these people, but even in as little as 5-8 years they've largely forgotten what it is that they wrote about and vaguely if at all do they remember about the event, even though the emotions, the urgency are perfectly preserved in that blog, forum post or github repo. Then I see github abandonware and nobody responding to the email, and you wonder why they stopped abruptly contributing to this repo.
It always phases me that our consciousness lives in the NOW moment and never the past. And as soon as the NOW moment passes, it becomes an irrelevant thing, superseded by the next NOW moment.
