AI Chatbots Will Help Students Learn Nothing Faster Than Ever

  • This is chocked full of logical fallacies, strawman, false dichotomy, hasty generalization and anecdotal evidence. Inflamatory title with an unsupported thesis by arguing against something that none made an argument for.

Even Khan didn't say that Chatbots were the be all and end all. Or that they could handle all types of education, Khanmigo is literally, "Khan Buddy" that applies the Socratic Method for answering the student's questions.

And who could argue against, "importance of relationships, context, and larger learning units". I would argue that Chatbots are excellent at "context" and can give teachers room for the "larger learning units" while providing 1:1 tutoring on the small learning units.

Khanmigo is exactly how one would use the existing medium (LLMs) to do what they do best. The author puts words in the readers mouth by begging the question that we are devaluing human relationships in education.

LLMs and Chatbots are the single biggest advancement in education since the book. But they aren't the end-all and be-all of education. Used correctly and they will give more time to interact meaningfully with the student.
