Ask HN: Individual Researchers Submit Papers
If I want to write and contribute to an article or small paper on computer science, artificial intelligence, or sociology, where should I post it? Currently, I post on my personal blog or contribute to media that I am often contacted by, but I would like to write something more academic (when the reader is an expert) and get it reviewed, but I have tried submitting to academic journals, but the registration fees and membership procedures are more expensive than I expected. Also, it is sometimes difficult to submit if you are not currently affiliated with a research institution. For those of you doing independent research, where do you post about your work?
The best way to proceed is to do arXiv submission first.
1. register https://info.arxiv.org/help/registerhelp.html
2. get an endorsement https://info.arxiv.org/help/endorsement.html
3. submit your paper.
After it's in arXiv you can submit it into peer reviewed journals, even if it's not accepted it's still in the arXiv.
