    Spicy take: hooved ruminants like cows and sheep are singularly unsuited to the Australian bush. No longer rearing them for the sole purpose of exporting to the US would probably be a good thing.

    On the upside, maybe Australia can keep selling horse and kangaroo to the US as beef and they won't even notice.

    On the upside, maybe it'll be cheaper for us in Australia if we don't have to compete with overseas buyers.

    Australia bans beef imports from anywhere that's had outbreaks of BSE. Because they would like to not have it.
