Ask HN: where are the Amazon headlines in the NSA/Snowden saga?

I'm just wondering, they're the other big player but they're the only one that sells services and stuff rather than ads. But they hoover up Kindle data. Did Bezos see this coming and purposely keep Amazon out of that space? Was he lucky because of the business model? Or have i just missed the gory details through coincidence?
