Ask HN: Why do websites for health care providers stink

My healthcare provider's Web site has no search bar and has one page with only generic information about coverage. Why is that? It can't be due to technical reasons.

Why are we such bad consumers of healthcare? Why don't we give the boot to these companies that do such a poor job describing coverage on their Website?
